Tottenham Hotspur are still searching for their first away win under Thomas Frank in the UEFA Champions League, but Archie Gray still managed to find a reason to smile on a tough night in Monaco.
Tottenham Hotspur’s away form in the UEFA Champions League has not exactly been their strongest in recent times.
Coming into their latest away tie in the competition, Spurs had won just one of their previous seven away matches in Europe’s top club tournament, drawing two and losing four.
That run did not improve, as Thomas Frank’s men were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against AS Monaco. It marked back-to-back draws in the competition for the new boss, and while a point away in Europe is never a disaster, the performance left plenty to be desired.
It was also a strange milestone evening for Spurs, as the result ended their 125-game run without a goalless draw.
Frank’s side could consider themselves fortunate to have even earned that, given that Monaco were the more dominant side throughout the ninety minutes.

Archie Gray reflects on Tottenham’s performance against Monaco
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Archie Gray shared his thoughts on making his first UEFA Champions League start, keeping a clean sheet, and the challenge of playing out of position on such a big stage. The youngster admitted it was a difficult evening for the team.
“Yeah it was a difficult game to be fair, you know. You know it were not our best and we had to stick together in tough moments, you know. I thought, you know, they were on top for most of the game. Vic kept us in it for most of it,” he said, crediting Guglielmo Vicario for his crucial saves.
Gray also spoke about the importance of taking something from a game where Tottenham were far from their best, highlighting the team’s unity and spirit.
“We always stick together like I said, but Vic was unbelievable today keeping us in the game. You know we would learn from these tough moments and, you know, we always stick together and we would come back from this,” he added.
Gray is proud of his first Champions League start for Spurs
When asked about Tottenham’s unbeaten start in the Champions League and their chances of going deep in the competition, Gray was confident and optimistic about what this young Spurs side can achieve under Thomas Frank.
“Yeah definitely, I believe this team can do anything to be fair. We all believe in each other and if we do not believe in us, then no one else is going to believe in us. We have to,” Gray said.
Despite admitting the overall performance fell below expectations, the teenager was proud to have achieved a personal milestone on such a big night in European football.
“Yeah obviously it is a really proud moment, especially with my family out here. But the performance today for the fans that travelled, obviously it was not good enough, and we would just learn from this and get back from this game,” he added.
