Ardiles blasts Gary Neville and Martin Tyler for Everton vs Spurs coverage

Tottenham fans had a bone to pick with Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville and commentator Martin Tyler, after the game against Everton on Sunday. The pair were commentating on the game which saw Tottenham thrash the Merseysiders 6-2 at Goodison Park.

Much to Spurs fans’ consternation, Neville and Tyler kept talking about rumors linking Pochettino to the Manchester United job rather than focusing their analysis on the game at hand.

This really angered Spurs fans as not only were Tottenham sending out a statement to the rest of the division with their performance, but they also sit 13 points ahead of Manchester United in the Premier League table.

Thus, many Spurs fans made their displeasure known by complaining on social media about the disrespect Neville, in particular, showed towards Tottenham. It seems those fans now have company in Spurs legend Osvaldo Ardiles who also took to Twitter to blast the ‘unprofessionalism’ Neville and Tyler displayed while commentating on the game.

Check out Ossie’s tweet below:

Spurs fans will certainly be pleased that Spurs legends like Graham Roberts and Ossie Ardiles are coming to the club’s defense at a time when former players like Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher seem determined to get Pochettino to Manchester United.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. One dickhead (Neville) talking to another dickhead (Tyler). The press has gone ballistic with this and are the cause of all of the rumor mongering.

  2. Ossie, if our other much beloved Argentinian has just 10% of the loyalty and love that you’ve shown Spurs
for over 40 years, then I think we’ll have no worries. Poch can take this club ‘back’ to greatness and to the level of standing which those (short-history-span) ignorant pundits like Neville and Carragher were never aware of. Who knows whether he will? But what a journey it could be ..and Poch may prove one day our club’s greatest ever manager (surpassing Burkinshaw and even the great Billy Nick)! Poch wouldn’t be given one ounce of a chance to try and surpass Fergie!

    • CB Waters, your assessment was spot on. Not many so-called expert pundits know that there was a time when clubs like Tottenham, Leeds United. Everton, et al ruled English football. As to Pic I, who knows where the journey will reach its peak and it may well result in a statue of Pic I in the forecourt of the new stadium. The prospects look good. COYS!!!!

  3. The English media has always been very biased… It is difficult to find journalist and game announcers who offer honest coverage….

  4. What do you expect from MUTV (Sky) check out Sky at almost any time of the day, surf the sports channels and see how long it takes to find United, the prem’ years, Neville interviewing another Unitef great? Or sky sports endlessly banging on about their beloved Manure…shameless bias

  5. Well what else do you expect from these type of people, obviously do not have the intelligence or capacity to report on football in a professional manner!
They only seek to create headlines with no substance, all newspaper hype and invalid speculation. It about time football authorities clamped down on stupid reports

  6. I live in Florida (although born in Tottenham) where the NBC Sports announcers coverage on MoPo to Manure has been relentless without seeing the likes of Neville, Tyler et al giving their “opinion”.

I still wonder, however, why MoPo doesn’t just come out and say “I am not interested in the job at Manure”?
