Argentina boss mentions Pochettino as well as one Spurs star

Tottenham Hotspur saw three of their players called up to the most recent Argentina squad.

Young Juan Foyth and Erik Lamela were called up to the senior squad last week, with Paulo Gazzaniga drafted in as a late pick.

20-year-old Foyth made his full debut for his country on Friday, picking up the man of the match award.

This is the third MOTM trophy Foyth has claimed in around a month, showing his vast improvements this season.

He came into the Spurs side for the League Cup fixture against West Ham, being picked out as the best player on the pitch.

His Premier League debut was more of a nightmare after the Argentine gave away two penalties in the second half.

However, Spurs still win the game against Wolves 3-2, and Foyth went on to score the winner against Crystal Palace in the next Prem match.

The Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni was full of praise for both Foyth and Poch after their 2-0 win over Mexico.

Football London report he said: “I think we are in front of a big centre-back, an important player for the future of the national team, and his coach [Pochettino] is taking it in an extraordinary way.

“We are very happy with Foyth, we are talking about a great centre-back, with a great future, it was a risk to start him play but he did it very well.”
