Arsenal announce they have banned fan who abused Spurs player online

Arsenal have revealed that one season ticket holder who incited violence towards Granit Xhaka and abuse towards an unnamed Spurs player has been banned.

The Gunners announced on their website that the fan has been handed a three-year stadium ban, which is subject to appeal. This is said to fall in line with the club’s sanctions guidelines.

This comes just a week after Tottenham and Arsenal stood together in their support for Bakayo Saka, the Gunners youngster who received racist abuse online after missing a penalty for England at the Euros this summer.

Spurs fans gave Saka a standing ovation during the Mind Series pre-season friendly last week, as well as unfurling a banner to show support for the winger.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Well done to Arsenal for doing the right thing and banning that season ticket holder. When it comes to this kind of stuff, Premier League clubs really need to band together until we stamp it out of the game.
