Arsenal are not yet showing ‘concrete’ interest in Spurs-linked midfielder – Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano has said that while Arsenal are admirers of rumoured Spurs target Morgan Gibbs-White, he has not heard anything about the Gunners substantiating their interest in the Nottingham Forest star.

White Gibbs-White has always been highly thought of ever since his days in the Wolves academy, the midfielder is now starting to fulfil his potential, having been one of Forests’ standout players this season.

Last week, talkSPORT reported that the Midlands club, who had been hit with a four-point deduction for breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules, would have to offload some players this summer to avoid further sanctions.

The report suggested that Gibbs-White is one of the players they could cash in on and that Tottenham are alert to the situation and are ready to pounce.

This information was backed up a few days ago by The Telegraph, who suggested that Forest might have to offload the Englishman by June 30 and Spurs, among other suitors, would have to pay £50m to sign the player.

No concrete interest from Arsenal in Morgan Gibbs-White

Since then, there have been murmurs about Arsenal also plotting a move for Gibbs-White but Romano has now said that Mikel Arteta’s men have not made any contact with Forest thus far.

He told CaughtOffside: “Morgan Gibbs-White has been linked with Arsenal by some outlets, but I’m not aware of anything imminent or concrete honestly.

“They appreciate the player as many other clubs do as well, but at the moment they haven’t made contact with Nottingham Forest so we have to be patient on this one; it’s also going to be key to understand if Forest will still be in the Premier League or not.”

A number of clubs across the Premier League will be watching Gibbs-White’s situation closely, given Forest’s financial predicament. Tottenham will certainly face plenty of competition for the midfielder and Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will be hoping that a bidding war ensues for the player.
