Arsenal defender fires warning at Spurs ahead of North London Derby

Tottenham found themselves 10 points clear of their North London rivals Arsenal five days ago but after successive losses against Burnley and Chelsea, Spurs are now only four points clear of the Gunners.

The North London derby coming up on this Saturday is thus arguably the biggest game of both teams’ season so far. A home win will give Spurs a cushion of seven points but an Arsenal win will cut the gap down to a point, and drag Spurs into a dog fight for the top four places.

Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson has now fired a warning shot to Spurs ahead of the game. The 27-year-old has said that Arsenal are coming into the game with a lot of confidence.

Speaking to the Islington Gazette, Jenkinson said, “We just keep building. In the last few games in particular, we’ve played some really good stuff. We’re looking like a very strong side, which we are.

“We’ve got a lot of really talented players and we want to show that we can do well at the minute. Of course, we’ve got a tough game coming up but we’re going into it with a lot of momentum and a lot of confidence.”

The defender also outlined how results in the business end of the season will likely define the whole campaign.

He added, “Towards the end of the season is a very critical time because the competitions are coming to an end and it’s about being consistent to get the results.

“I think we’re doing that really well at the minute but we’ve got some big games coming up. It’s a very important time for us but as players, we all know that.”
