Arsenal legend backs Tottenham for the Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur fans may have thought their hunt for a trophy was over when they were knocked out of both cup competitions in the space of four days.

The Carabao Cup and FA Cup has always represented Spurs’ best chance at winning their first silverware in over a decade, and Pochettino’s first trophy as a manager.

However, fast forward a month and Tottenham are well in the hunt for two rather different, and rather prestigious trophies, the Premier League and the Champions League.

Spurs are just five points behind both City and Liverpool in the three horse race for the Prem title, with a game in hand on the former.

Tottenham also have one foot in the quarter finals of the Champions League after beating Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in their home leg.

Even Arsenal legend Martin Keown is now refusing to write off the Lilywhites for Champions League success, something that may not go down well with his club’s fans.

Keown was speaking on BBC’s Football Focus (as reported by Football London): “[Manchester] City is the safe answer but don’t back against Spurs, think about how Liverpool won it in 2005. I’m not sure but they won’t go away will they? A brilliant performance against Dortmund in midweek.

“They have had a lot of disappointments and they’ve learnt very well, came back. They have almost been playing out of a suitcase this season, no real natural home, so I think you’ve got to give a lot of credit. Let’s see how they progress.”
