Arsenal legend believes Spurs man needs to leave to resurrect career

Arsenal legend, Kevin Campbell has urged Harry Winks to quit Tottenham Hotspur in order to resurrect his career.

Winks has struggled to establish himself in the starting eleven this season and has not quite managed to take the opportunities when they have come his way.

The 25-year-old was part of the side that were humiliated 3-0 by Dinamo Zagreb last Thursday and he subsequently found himself missing out on the matchday squad for Tottenham’s trip to Villa Park last week.

The midfielder was left out of the England squad for this month’s World Cup Qualifiers by Gareth Southgate, with the Three Lions boss admitting that his lack of game time at Spurs was the main reason.

Reports indicate that Winks is one of the players who is set to leave Spurs in the summer if Jose Mourinho keeps his job.

Campbell insisted that the Tottenham academy graduate needs to move if he is to get back into the England fold.

The former Arsenal striker told Football Insider: “He needs games. He’s an England international and decent midfielder. But he’s not playing football, just like Dele Alli.

“These guys have been in and around the England set-up for years and now they’re not getting picked. Why? Because they aren’t playing for their clubs.

“As a footballer, if you’re not playing, you don’t get picked. He’s got to go out and play. But he’s a Spurs boy so I’m not sure if that’s a priority to him.”

Winks looks certain to leave in the summer, particularly with Skipp demonstrating at Norwich this season that he is ready to play a key role in the Spurs first-team. I believe a move to La Liga would be ideal for the 25-year-old’s career.
