Arsenal legend claims Spurs are not far from big trophies

Tottenham Hotspur entered their fifth Premier League season under Mauricio Pochettino this campaign.

Real Madrid have shown big interest in the Argentine boss, but it appears he will stay put in North London for the foreseeable future.

Spurs are actually enjoying their best ever start to a Premier League campaign this season, with 24 points from 11 games.

They are also still fighting on four fronts for trophies as they just about clung to life in the Champions League last night.

Pochettino has transformed Tottenham from a team challenging for European places to a team that has qualified for the Champions League for three years in a row.

They have also finished in the top three in these consecutive seasons, as well as putting in some memorable nights under the lights in Europe’s biggest competition.

Despite this, Pochettino still has no silverware to put into Spurs’ trophy cabinet in the new stadium.

However, even Arsenal legend David Seaman believes they aren’t far away from big trophies.

He said the following on talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Sport Breakfast: “No, they’re not miles away at all.

“They’re getting closer every season, for me.

“A lot of people are going on about how they’re not playing very well, but this is their best start to a Premier League season and they’ve still got a chance in the Champions League, although a very small chance.

“They are always progressing and they keep their players and get their best players to sign new, long- term contracts.

“For me, Tottenham are really progressing.”
