Arsenal legend claims the Gunners should replace Emery with Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have both performed well under the level they would have liked so far this season in the Premier League.

Spurs sit in 10th in the Premier League table with just 17 points from 13 games. This includes four wins, five draws, and four losses in the 2019/20 campaign.

Comparatively, Arsenal sit two places higher than their North London rivals, with one extra point. They have won four, drawn six, and lost three under Unai Emery this season.

However, Spurs also play in the Champions League again this year, while Arsenal missed out yet again. Tottenham have also taken the decision to change their manager in search of better results, while the Gunners stick with Emery for the time being.

Daniel Levy and the board chose to sack Mauricio Pochettino and bring in Jose Mourinho this month, and one Arsenal legend claims that his old club should move for the out-of-work Argentine.

Paul Merson said (Sky Sports): ‘Arsenal should go for Mauricio Pochettino. He’s not won anything, but he improved Tottenham over five years, tenfold. He’s a top manager and he is about at the moment.

‘I know he managed at Tottenham, but George Graham had been at Arsenal when he went the other way. You’ve got to get past that sort of stuff. These top managers don’t come along too often, where you don’t even have to pay anything for them.

‘Can I see it happening? No. Should it happen? Yes. But it won’t happen. The days of the rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham are not what they were. When I was growing up, it was the big football match.’
