Arsenal legend compares Spurs new boy to Emanuel Petit and Patrick Vieira

Tony Adams has raved about the performance of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the North London Derby and compared the Spurs midfielder to his former Arsenal teammates Emanuel Petit and Patrick Vieira.

Hojbjerg has undoubtedly been one of the signings of the summer, especially considering that the Liylwhites managed to snap him up for around £15m.

The midfielder’s reputation seems to be growing with every single game he plays for Spurs.

The Dane once again put in an accomplished display against Arsenal on Sunday as he shielded the back four brilliantly, denying the Gunners’ midfielders and forwards any space or time on the ball in the final third.

He earned Jose Mourinho’s praise after the game, with the Spurs boss hailing his the midfielder’s ability to read the game and insisting that he was destined to become a manager in the future (Football.London).

Adams admitted that he was mightily impressed with how Hojbjerg protected the Tottenham backline.

The former Arsenal centre-back told Premier League Productions: “You [Tim Sherwood] used to play like him also.

“That screen. He’s so important. Patrick [Vieira] did it many a time. Petit did it.

“He was phenomenal Hojbjerg [against Arsenal]. Absolutely phenomenal. The two central defenders have come off the pitch not breaking a sweat.”
