Arsenal legend describes Spurs midfielder as ‘integral’ and ‘underrated’ – Not Hojbjerg

Tanguy Ndombele endured a rather disappointing first season in North London after his big-money move in the summer of 2019. However, the Frenchman has been nothing short of a revelation in the Spurs side throughout the 2020/21 campaign.

Ndombele arrived in North London from Lyon for a club-record transfer fee but problems with his fitness and work-ethic led to reported clashes with Jose Mourinho (Independent).

However, such issues appear to be a thing of the past for the Portuguese manager so far this season. The 24-year-old has been used in the more advanced role of a midfield trio, and the Spurs faithful continue to be dazzled by the Frenchman.

But it is not just Tottenham fans who are impressed by Ndombele as even Arsenal legend, Martin Keown believes that he is now an integral part of what Mourinho is trying to achieve at Spurs.

The ex-Arsenal captain was talking on TalkSport regarding the midfielder.

He stated: “You can’t believe the amount of work Ndombele does out of possession…

“He’s underrated Ndombele, what he does, he sits on the deep-lying midfield player for the opposition.

“The amount of work he gets through, it’s integral to Mourinho’s tactics that he likes to employ.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

It has been fantastic to see Ndombele fulfilling the potential that Tottenham fans were hoping to see. It is clear that any ill-feeling between the manager and player has vanished. One can only hope that Ndombele can add more goal contributions to a side that has been dominated by Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane.
