Arsenal legend insists Spurs could cancel player’s contract to force him out

Arsenal legend, Martin Keown has become the latest pundit to weigh in on Danny Rose being left in limbo at Spurs, admitting that he would not be surprised if the Lilywhites released the defender.

Reports indicate that Tottenham were desperate to sell the England international in the final days of the window and were disappointed not to have found a resolution (Athletic).

The Daily Mail has claimed that, if the 30-year-old does not move to a Championship club before the October 16 EFL transfer deadline, then he faces being frozen out of the first-team picture at Tottenham until January.

Some Spurs fans on social media have admitted their disappointment at the way the defender is being treated despite the 13 years of service he has given the club.

When Keown was asked whether Rose will get the Jack Wilshere treatment after the midfielder was released by West Ham earlier this week, the former Arsenal defender told talkSPORT on Friday at 12.25pm (as relayed by TBR Football): “He wants to play.

“It is only a matter of time before he moves on, so yeah [he could cancel his contract].

“He stood up to Mourinho, and he is getting even further away from the first team.”
