Arsenal legend provides positive prediction for Spurs and Harry Kane’s future

According to Paul Merson, Harry Kane will put his family first and decide to stay with Tottenham Hotspur this summer despite interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

Kane has endured another fruitless season with Tottenham this year and will have no European football next season after an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League.

With a year left on his current contract, speculation is mounting that Kane will leave Spurs this summer in search of silverware.

Manchester United have long been rumoured to be an admirer of Kane and have reportedly made the 29-year-old their top transfer target for this summer (The Sun).

Chelsea, now under the leadership of former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, have also been linked. Apparently, the Argentine manager is keen on a reunion with the prolific striker (The Independent).

Merson calls for Harry Kane to leave Spurs

Merson suggests Harry Kane probably should leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but believes he will stay where he is due to circumstances in his personal life.

He told Sky Sports: “He has to leave Tottenham now otherwise he’s never leaving because Man City have got Erling Haaland and United and Chelsea need to buy a centre-forward this summer.

“So, by the time Kane is a free transfer at the end of next season, everyone will have a striker.

“But I don’t see him leaving Tottenham. People say he has to win trophies, the only place he can guarantee winning them is at Manchester City.

“If he goes to Manchester United they could easily win nothing next season.

“And what about his young family? You’ve got to weigh up this stuff as well.

“Everyone just looks at the footballer. He’s a family man and Tottenham through and through. I’d be quite shocked if he did leave.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t often agree with Paul Merson but he makes a very good point here.

Harry Kane has a family to think about and a legacy at Tottenham that is invaluable.

He will not be quick to uproot his family and leave everything behind, and I honestly believe he will stay at Spurs.
