Martin Keown has claimed that Christian Eriksen would be open to joining Tottenham or Arsenal if clubs of that ilk come calling in the summer.

Brentford have improved considerably since Eriksen started featuring for them but it remains to be seen what the 30-year-old will opt to do when his six-month contract with the Bees comes to an end this summer.

Reports have indicated that Tottenham are keen on bringing the attacking midfielder back to North London this summer (90min), with Alasdair Gold confirming on his YouTube channel that Spurs have held internal discussions about the former Ajax man.

The Denmark international admitted following Spurs’ 0-0 draw at the Brentford Community Stadium last week that the Lilywhites still hold a special place in his heart (Sky Sports).

However, Brentford boss Thomas Frank has insisted he remains hopeful that Eriksen will remain with the Bees next season (TEAMtalk).

Keown has now claimed that Eriksen could not only jump at the chance of joining Spurs but he would also be open to a move to the Emirates.

The pundit told talkSPORT: “I think he [Eriksen] would step aside [at Brentford] if he could return back to a Spurs, or an Arsenal, somebody of that ilk. Maybe he deserves that opportunity.

“Maybe the player might decide with all that love and support I’ve got here [at Brentford] I’m going to stay at Brentford.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Eriksen will feel a sense of loyalty towards Brentford for giving him an opportunity at a difficult time. However, the Dane only has a few more years of football left in him at the top level and he will likely want to play at the highest level possible.

However, having said that, Eriksen will also want to be a regular starter at his next club. He does not fit into Conte’s preferred 3-4-3 formation, and so, he might want to speak to the Italian to seek assurances regarding game time.
