Tottenham Hotspur put in a very solid and mature performance away to Leicester last night, especially considering the circumstances.

Not only is the Tottenham squad hit with injuries to key players such as Kieran Trippier and Mousa Dembele at the moment, but they have the small task of Barcelona away on Tuesday.

Despite this, the Premier League dished up a Saturday night fixture for the Lilywhites, a fixture in which Poch chose to rest both Kane and Eriksen.

This may have raised a few eyebrows, but people need to remember that even Spurs’ best players need a rest at times through this part of the season.

At the end of the day, the team put out on the pitch did a wonderful job, and one man in particular really stepped into some big shoes.

Dele Alli took it upon himself to run the show in the absence of Kane and Eriksen, and the English midfielder was absolutely everywhere.

In both defence and attack, Dele ran now stop for the entirety of the game, and his general passing interplay and attacking intelligence was different class.

He even added a diving header to his performance, sealing all three points for his club.

The display was so impressive that even two Arsenal legends applauded the young man on Match of the Day.

As reported by Football London, Martin Keown said: “Kane sat on the bench, with Lucas Moura playing up top and Dele Alli really took it upon himself to be the leader. Lovely feet, he’s so clean in everything he does, he wants to penetrate through the middle, that’s the area he wants.

“The World Cup really took a lot out of him, he never seemed to be fully fit through that and he’s come in a bit late, but boy do Spurs need him with the big games they’ve got coming up.”

Ian Wright added: “It was a very mature performance from him seeing as Eriksen and Kane didn’t start, he was that creative midfielder and supporting Lucas Moura. Dele is coming back to somewhere near his best and what we know he’s capable of doing.”
