Journalist Ben Jacobs has handed Tottenham a potential boost by stating that Arsenal will not be vying for the services of rumoured target Ivan Toney this summer.

Should Tottenham make a move for Ivan Toney?
With just days left until the opening of the summer transfer window, it looks like Spurs’ path to signing the Brentford striker is now clearing.
A couple of days ago, Football Transfers reported that the interest that the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United held in the centre-forward has now cooled a little.
The outlet named West Ham as Tottenham’s main competitor for the 27-year-old, who has just a year left on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The publication also suggested that the Lilywhites are ready to press ahead with an opening offer of £40m for the England international but it was explained that the Bees are expected to turn that down as it falls short of their valuation.

Arsenal drop out of the race for Ivan Toney
Jacobs has now become the latest journalist to confirm that Arsenal will not be making a move for Toney, revealing that they have already turned their attention to other alternatives.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Yeah, I think Arsenal are still stuck deciding on the striker front. But it’s clear that that’s the kind of profile that they’re looking for, and they feel is missing.
“And along with Benjamin Sesko, they’ve considered Evan Ferguson and Viktor Gyokeres, but they’ve ruled out Ivan Toney. And even though we hear reports about Arsenal moving for Victor Osimhen, the outlay is so severe that nothing is advancing at this stage on that front.
“It’s a long window, of course, but there’s better value and slightly younger profiles of strikers that Arsenal are prioritising at this time.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I think we could have a few more twists and turns in this Ivan Toney saga over the next couple of months.
I expect Brentford to drive a hard bargain for the 27-year-old and I would not be surprised if the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea reignite their interest in the player later in the window.
A solid Euro 2024 campaign for Toney with England could see him look to turn the heads of some clubs after a disappointing end to the season with Brentford.
