Arsenal star makes claim about Tottenham following win over West Ham

Aaron Ramsdale insisted that he was not even aware of Tottenham’s result against Leicester earlier in the day after Arsenal’s win over West Ham United.

Spurs went into the weekend two points behind their North London rivals in the race for fourth and Antonio Conte’s men did their job as they overcame Leicester 3-1 to put the pressure on Arsenal.

However, the Gunners responded in kind, coming away with a 2-1 win from the London Stadium to keep their two-point lead intact.

It is looking increasingly likely that the Lilywhites will have to win the North London derby on May 12 if they are to have a shot of clinching fourth ahead of their local rivals.

Ramsdale insisted after Mikel Arteta’s side got the job done against the Hammers that he was not aware of Tottenham’s result, adding that he and his teammates can afford to look towards a third-place finish following Chelsea’s loss at Goodison Park.

When asked if the win was even more vital after Spurs’ result earlier in the day, the Arsenal goalkeeper told Sky Sports: “To be honest I didn’t really know they had won. It was vital that we had to get three points anyway, I go out earlier to warm up so I didn’t know the result.

“Every game from now to the end of the season is vital for us if we’re to get that fourth place, or third if we’re looking even higher.”

At the moment, it is looking like getting just one point off the Brighton and Brentford could end up costing us fourth place. However, there could still be plenty of twists and turns left in the race, given how inconsistent both Spurs and Arsenal have been this season.
