Tottenham Hotspur hit another low last night as they took on League 2 outfit, Colchester United, in the Carabao Cup.
This was Spurs’ first game in the competition this season, with many fans seeing it as the best opportunity to end their 11-year wait for a trophy.
However, Colchester were not about to roll over as they held a lifeless Tottenham to a 0-0 draw in extra time.
The match went straight to penalties and misses from Eriksen and Lucas Moura saw Tottenham crash out in humiliating fashion.
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s North London neighbours sailed through with an easy 5-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest.
Spurs will now have to look to the FA Cup as their only chance to win a domestic cup this season, with the Premier League already looking unlikely.
Tottenham have won just two games out of eight so far this season and will need to turn their form around sharpish if they want to come away with any form of success.
Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was seen mocking his rivals on Instagram after the Colchester defeat, liking a post entitled ‘Like if you’re laughing at Spurs’.
