Arsenal tried to sign ‘irreplaceable’ Tottenham star back in 2022

Gianluca Di Marzio on Tottenham man’s transformation

Di Marzio hails Dejan Kulusevski’s transformation, pointing out that he has overcome his ‘dark period’ at Juventus to evolve into a ‘totally reliable player’ at Tottenham.

The journalist points out that Kulusevski’s technical quality together with his ‘versatility and physical strength’ has made him ‘irreplaceable’ for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

He adds that the Swede’s improvement in the final third of late is proof that he is now ‘ready to assert himself’ and become a big player.

Arsenal tried to sign Dejan Kulusevski

Di Marzio reveals that prior to Kulusevski’s move to Spurs in 2022, their North London rivals, Arsenal also explored a move for him.

It is explained that Mikel Arteta’s men turned their attention to the former Juventus man after failing to agree a deal with Fiorentina for Dusan Vlahovic.

However, it was Spurs who then pushed ahead with a move, with Fabio Paratici and Co. convincing the Bianconeri by offering ‘millions’ for the versatile attacker.

Kulusevski’s incredibly high ceiling

Kulusevski does not really have too many weaknesses in his game, which is why there is no upper limit to how good he can become.

The Sweden international is evidently an extremely driven individual, who is constantly focused on getting better, and he could well spearhead Ange Postecoglou’s quest to achieve something special at N17 over the next year or two.

Not only Arsenal, but many clubs across Europe would be ruing the fact that they allowed Spurs to swoop for him for a relatively low fee.
