‘As always’ – Serie A manager makes prediction for Antonio Conte at Spurs

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has said that he expects Antonio Conte to be a hit at Tottenham and backs him to do an ‘excellent job as always’.

The former Chelsea boss was appointed as Tottenham’s new manager on Tuesday, just a day after the club relieved Nuno Espirito Santo of his duties.

The Portuguese coach lasted just four months in charge, with the final straw coming in the side’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

Conte, who has signed with Spurs until June 2023, has established himself as a serial winner, claiming league titles with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan respectively.

It signals a sign of intent from Spurs chiefs Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici, who will be hoping Conte is able to bring an end to the club’s lengthy search for silverware.

However, he has been backed by Atalanta boss Gasperini who, after coming up against Conte plenty of times before, expects him to experience a successful spell in North London.

Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, he said: “I’m happy for Antonio, if he goes there he has achieved what he hoped for. He will do an excellent job as always, he’s a great one.

This is a big signal of intent from Spurs to bring in one of the most coveted managers currently in world football.

The Nuno move clearly was not going to work out from the off, and now they have an elite manager to hopefully get the ship steadied and in the right direction.
