Ashley Cole explains why Harry Kane is more than a goalscorer

Former England full-back Ashley Cole has heaped praise on Harry Kane for his display against Montenegro in England’s 7-0 win on Thursday.

The Spurs striker was at his lethal best as he fired a first-half hat-trick to help England put the game beyond doubt in the first half an hour of the game.

Records continue to tumble for the Spurs striker whose three goals took his tally for the Three Lions to 31 goals and putting him sixth in the all-time list (Goal).

Kane also became the player to have scored the most goals as captain in the nation’s history.

Cole, who analysed the England game for ITV alongside Roy Keane, was asked about Kane’s display and he insisted that the England captain will be delighted with his contrition on the night.

Speaking to ITV, during the live broadcast of the game on 14/11/19 (as relayed by TBR Football), the former Arsenal and Chelsea defender said: “I don’t want to be disrespectful and say he’s just a goalscorer.

“He has a cleverness and brings others into play but when he’s in front of goal, he’s quality. All strikers want to score goals, he should be really happy with his contribution.”

It is good to see Kane finally get some credit for his all-round play as he has exhibited brilliant passing, intelligence and hold up play for the past several years. While his finishing is up there with the best, it is his all-round game that sets him apart from the likes of Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker.
