‘Ask Paratici’ – Giorgio Chiellini hints he wanted Juventus to sign Spurs star

Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini has hinted that he wanted Juventus to sign Tottenham Hotspur star striker Harry Kane.

The pair will come up against each other tomorrow night at Wembley in the Euro 2020 final when England host Italy.

The 26-year-old was asked of his opinion on the England captain, who has scored four goals during the tournament to date and will be looking to add to his tally to help England win their first major tournament since 1966.

Chiellini claimed that he was left impressed by Kane having come up against him during a pre-season fixture and revealed that Fabio Paratici could provide confirmation of his wish to have had the striker join the Serie A giants.

Paratici spent eleven years in a series of executive roles for Juventus, including chief football officer before leaving at the end of last season when his contract was not renewed and was quickly appointed by Tottenham in the role of managing director of football.

Chiellini told the Gazzetta dello Sport: “I still remember the first time I played against Kane, a friendly in Turin between Italy and England, and I was immediately impressed by his many different qualities. He’s good in the air, holding up the ball, with assists, scoring goals, even free kicks, so you can ask (former Juventus director Fabio) Paratici how many times I talked to him about Kane over the years!”

Chiellini is an experienced campaigner and has come up against Kane on a few occasions during his career, with the 27-year-old having scored a wonder goal against Juventus during a pre-season friendly in Singapore from just inside the Juve half after spotting former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny off his line.

Every defender would prefer to have Kane in their line-up, rather than face him. I’m sure many other players have expressed an interest in their club landing the Spurs marksman.
