Aston Villa boss reveals whether Grealish could return against Tottenham

Aston Villa boss, Dean Smith has revealed that he is hopeful that Jack Grealish will be fit to take to the field against Tottenham Hotspur on March 21.

Tottenham’s attention will be on the all-important North London derby this weekend, with Jose Mourinho’s men needing three points to stay in touch with the top four.

A win at the Emirates would also help Spurs to build a ten-point lead over the Gunners, giving the Lilywhites a great chance of finishing above their fierce rivals for the fifth season running.

After their trip to the Emirates and their flight to Zagreb for the second leg of the Europa League Round of 16 clash against Dinamo on Thursday, Spurs face a tough trip to Villa Park on Sunday, March 21.

The game, which was initially scheduled for January, was postponed due to an outbreak of COVID cases in the Villa camp.

In what comes as a blow to Spurs, Smith has now revealed that the Villans are hoping to have their talismanic midfielder Grealish back for the game.

The Villa boss told Birmingham Live: “Jack’s been making really good progress but, unfortunately, he won’t make Newcastle.

“He has been ill this week so he’s been off for a couple of days as well, but we’re hopeful for the Tottenham game now, that’s for sure.”

While three wins in three against Burnley, Fulham and Palace has brought us right back into the race for the top four, the next two games against Arsenal and Villa are crucial for us to keep pace with the pack. Realistically, we need at least four points from those two matches to give ourselves a fighting chance.
