Aston Villa have referred to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as ‘three-point lane’ after they overturned Spurs 2-1 on Sunday.
As expected, the game was an end-to-end affair, with both teams defending with a high line and playing on the front foot.
There were plenty of chances on both ends of the pitch, with Spurs undoubtedly fashioning the better opportunities, but it was the away side who were more clinical, with goals from Pau Torres and Ollie Watkins in either half giving them all three points.
The result means that Unai Emery’s men leapfrogged Tottenham into fourth place, thus boosting their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
Aston Villa mock Tottenham with ‘three-point Lane’
Following their 2-1 win, Villa have posted the caption ‘three-point lane’ on social media, which is a play on the club’s former home ground White Hart Lane.
The phrase was first used by Chelsea fans to rile up Spurs supporters, given the Blues’ regular wins at the Lane through the 1990s and 2000s.

Spurs Web Opinion
The Villa social media admin is clearly looking for interactions from Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham fans, who would take a lot of pleasure in Sours being mocked.
While Villa have the bragging rights after yesterday, I still think we will have the last laugh as I saw enough in our performance to be convinced that we will finish above Emery’s men this season.
