‘At our best’ – Postecoglou hopes to have midfielder back for Bournemouth challenge

Bournemouth are in great form right now, and Ange Postecoglou is under no illusions as to the challenge his team will face in taking on the Cherries this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur had put together a run of three straight wins this month, beating Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, and Everton, but the Lilywhites fell to defeat against Brighton last night in devastating fashion.

A 4-2 defeat at the Amex Stadium leaves Spurs in fifth place in the Premier League, but still within touching distance of the top four and a potential title challenge.

Up next for Ange Postecoglou is Bournemouth, a side who are now unbeaten in their last seven games and climbing the table fast.

Postecoglou will have to go into the game without key players yet again, with the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and James Maddison injured, and now Dejan Kulusevski added to the list of suspensions.

Postecoglou expects a tough game vs Bournemouth

In his latest press conference (via Football.London), Postecoglou revealed how he felt about facing the in-form side.

He said: “It will be a different challenge, obviously Bournemouth are in good form, they do play good football as well, they play football in terms of they want to play and get the ball down. It will be a good challenge for us.

“Every game’s tough, we played Everton, they were on a great run as well. Brighton weren’t but that doesn’t matter. Every week’s a challenge, short turnaround for us, hopefully we might get Oliver Skipp back, probably the only fresh legs we’ll have to contribute to what we’re doing.

“But it’s a good challenge for us. We’re at home, whilst we’ve had a couple of losses at home, every home game we’ve been well in them, and we’ll need to be at our best to match Bournemouth on Sunday.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s a hard one to call this one. The Spurs players will desperately want to put things right after that Brighton game, but Bournemouth are on fire right now and will want to spoil the party for us. Hopefully, the players dig deep and produce what’s needed, especially in front of the home crowd.
