‘At the end’ – Conte makes hint about late January transfer window business

Antonio Conte has admitted that making new signings this month will not be straightforward and Spurs might have to wait until the end of the transfer window to bring their targets in.

According to reports, Conte wants to add a striker, a right wing-back and a left-sided centre-back to his squad this month.

The Tottenham head coach revealed in his press conference on Tuesday that he had informed the club’s hierarchy of what is needed. However, two weeks into the window, Spurs do not appear to be close to completing any signing.

Wolves’ Adama Traore has been the one who has been most heavily linked with a move to North London over the past week but it has now emerged that Tottenham could now be facing competition from London rivals Chelsea for the pacy wide man.

Conte explained that he is fully aware that bringing in the right players mid-season will not be easy for the club.

The 52-year-old told Football.London about the club’s transfer hopes: “The transfer situation is not easy and a lot of time you have to wait for players at the end of this period to make new contracts.

“I have the experience to know this and understand this and for sure every coach would like to have the players very soon, but the club has to take the best decision on this aspect.

“The important thing is the club knows my vision about the present and then the future and they have to decide the way they have to go.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Historically, Spurs have tended to do most of their business in the final week or ten days of the transfer window as that is when you tend to get better value for money. That is unlikely to change with the arrival of Fabio Paratici. I expect us to bring in two new players before the end of the month.
