Atalanta president, Antonio Percassi has told the Italian press that the club will do everything they can to keep hold of their biggest stars this summer.

The side from Bergamo have won many admirers this season for their brand of fearless football and could be running the risk of having their top talents poached by the European elite, just as the likes of Monaco and Ajax have in the past.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for right-back Timothy Castagne (ESPN), who has been one of Atalanta’s most consistent performers over the last three years.

The 24-year-old, who has just a year left to run on his contract with the Italian side, is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League this summer (HLN).

Jose Mourinho is also said to be keen on bringing a back-up goalkeeper to Spurs this summer (Football Insider), with Atalanta number one Pierluigi Gollini among the names being linked with the North Londoners (Gazzetta dello Sport).

However, Percassi has now made it clear that the Serie A side will not let any of their star players leave unless they get an offer that is too big to refuse.

Speaking to Sports Mediaset (as relayed by Football Italia), the Atalanta president said: “Several players will be targeted. We will do everything we can to keep them, unless there are figures that are impossible to refuse. The goal is to keep the best and integrate them with others.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot really see Gollini leaving Atalanta for Spurs just to play second fiddle to Lloris. The former Aston Villa man has proven that he is one of the best shot-stoppers in Italian football and will want to be undisputed first choice wherever he goes next. Based on the noises Castagne’s agent is making, it seems as if the right-back is looking to leave Bergamo this summer and a move to Spurs would be of interest to him. I believe that the Belgian will be a better fit for us than Celik but I can see going for the Turkish defender due to the Lille connection.
