“Attacking with pace” – Some Spurs fans react to first half against Middlesbrough

Tottenham have been extremely dominant in the first half of the FA Cup third round replay against Middlesbrough as they lead 2-0 at half time.

The attacking football on show has left some Spurs fans extremely pleased.

Spurs broke through the Middlesbrough defence in the second minute after the Boro keeper Tomas Mejias’ sloppy pass was intercepted by Giovani Lo Celso who took a couple of good touches and finished smartly to put Spurs 1-0 up.

The away side never recovered from that early blow as Jose Mourinho’s side took control of the game. Erik Lamela, who was arguably Tottenham’s best player in the half, got a brilliant second as he wont the ball in the final third and glided past a couple of challenges before coming up with an improvised finished.

Spurs continued to pepper the Boro goal after that but didn’t manage to score the third before half time.

Jonathan Woodgate’s side have had a couple of chances on the counter but their poor finishing as ensured Tottenham’s clean sheet remains intact.

Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to some of the attacking interplay the side produced in the first 45 minutes:

Some of the interplay between Lamela, Lo Celso and Eriksen has been quite brilliant to watch. While Middlesbrough obviously aren’t at the same level as Premier League teams, this performance shows how big a miss Lamela has been. It is also encouraging to see Lo Celso coming into his own over the last few weeks.
