Reports indicate that Tottenham Hotspur have now begun their efforts to land a Serie A defender ahead of January. There is just one problem, Chelsea are also interested.

Tottenham keen on strengthening at left-back
Spurs are thought to be intent on strengthening at left-back in January and it has been reported over recent weeks that they have set their sights on Lecce youngster Patrick Dorgu (Planeta Lecce).
Last week, the 19-year-old put pen to paper on a new contract with Lecce but it was reported by FiorentinaNews a few days ago that the new deal is not going to stop Tottenham and other suitors from making a move for the youngster.
In fact, we believe that Patrick Dorgu should be Tottenham’s first piece of transfer business in January.
The auction has now started
The same information has now been carried by the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, who say that despite signing a new deal, Dorgu’s future is very much up in the air.
The report names Chelsea and Spurs as clubs who are keen on the wing-back, with Ange Postecoglou’s men said to be in pole position at the moment.
The outlet claims that the ‘auction has already started’ for the Lecce defender, who is also in the sights of AC Milan.

Lecce expect big profit
The report points out that Milan might find it difficult to win the race for Dorgu, given the financial might of the two London clubs involved in the race.
It is pointed out that Rossoneri had an €8m offer get rejected for the player last year and would have to pay a much higher fee if they wish to secure his services in January or next summer.
The publication adds that Lecce are ‘ready to achieve a historic capital gain’ from the Denmark international’s sale.
