AVB speaks again on Bale’s future

Andre Villas-Boas has again expressed his confidence that Gareth Bale will stay at Tottenham this summer.

The Spurs boss had already stated that he has had assurances from the Spurs board that the Welshman will not be sold. We’re all fed up with the speculation linking Bale with moves to Real Madrid or Manchester United on almost a daily basis so it’s great to see AVB come out and reaffirm his belief once again.

Thr fact that Daniel Levy has told AVB that Bale is going nowhere and that this information is in the public domain is good enough for us. No way would the board sell Bale after giving AVB their word, plus there would be an uproar from the N17 support.

If we are to reject offers of £85million plus and bring in the likes of Paulinho then it will fill even the most pessimistic Spurs fan with hope ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

“The chairman said that we are not open to offers, whatever they are, and that the player will stay,” he told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.

“In football anything can happen, but these are the guarantees given to me.

“There was a moment last season when Gareth came to me because he was not comfortable out on the pitch.

“I do not know if it was my response or that he was glad to relieve the stress, but after that he became confident and played with freedom.

“He felt important and finished the year in style.”
