AVB gives update on Modric bid saga

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that there have been no fresh bids for Luka Modric.

Real Madrid are known to be heading the race to sign the Tottenham midfielder but are some way off meeting our valuation of £35million-£40million for the Croatian.

Modric is back training in England after he refused to travel with the Spurs squad for their pre-season tour to the USA to the fury of chairman Daniel Levy.

The only way Modric will be allowed to leave is if his valuation is met, it’s as simple as that.

“There is no news at the moment,” said Villas-Boas.

“The player is training in London. There have been no further bids, no improved bids. The value hasn’t been met for what we think is correct.

“We have a big squad and we are fielded in most of the positions, so we just have to wait and see how that deal goes or doesn’t go.

“If the player eventually stays, he is a player of fantastic talent for us and will certainly add to our squad.”
