Azpilicueta sends warning to Tottenham ahead of season run in

Tottenham Hotspur were looking firmly ahead this time 10 days ago, as they found themselves well in the race for the title.

The Lilywhites had the chance to cut the gap between themselves and Liverpool down to just two points with a win at Burnley.

However, after losing that game to Sean Dyche’s men, followed by a defeat to Chelsea and a draw at home against Arsenal, Tottenham now sit ten points behind Man City and nine behind Liverpool.

More importantly, Spurs are now worryingly close to the chasing back behind them, despite having such a dominant lead not long ago.

Man United are currently just three points behind Tottenham, with Arsenal a further point back, and Chelsea having the chance to go two behind Spurs if they win their game in hand.

With nine games left for Tottenham, they will have to fight tooth and nail to retain their Champions League spot for next season, yet alone third place.

Cesar Azpilicueta has sent a warning to Spurs ahead of the season run in.

He said (Chelsea website): “Now, after the last results, Tottenham is in the race to make the top four, that is clear.

“It is in our hands to make it possible, so we have 10 games remaining and now we have to fight.

“We have two games in the Premier League before the international break, we have to be focused on those, and two legs of the Europa League and let’s see where we can finish, but our aim as always at Chelsea is to try to finish as high as possible.”
