Some Spurs fans have been left extremely disappointed to hear from multiple sources that Jules Kounde has rejected a move to Tottenham despite the North London club agreeing on a fee with Sevilla.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Kounde over the past few weeks and it appeared as if the Premier League club had finally managed to reach an agreement.
Gianluca Di Marzio reported last night that Spurs had agreed on a fee of around €30m (£25.6m) plus Davinson Sanchez with Sevilla for the 22-year-old.
That would have been music to the ears of some Spurs fans as it would have meant that Fabio Paratici had addressed the club’s defensive deficiencies while also managing to cash in on a player who was seemingly surplus to requirements.
However, according to the latest updates, it would appear that Kounde has no interest in moving to Spurs despite the club agreeing on a fee for him.
Marca have claimed that the defender has ‘refused to start a negotiation’ with Tottenham and has made it clear to Sevilla that he does not wish to join a club who are not involved in the Champions League.
The report asserts that the Spurs door is closed for Kounde, who is expecting offers from ‘the upper echelons’.
Sky Sport Italia journalist Matteo Moretto has also backed up that claim, revealing that the centre-back has ‘said no’ to Tottenham despite the club reaching a total agreement with Sevilla.
The player’s rumoured rejection has left many Spurs fans on social media extremely frustrated, with a few questioning why the club are wasting their time if Kounde is not interested in a move.
So we talk to his agents, waste time negotiating with sevilla without knowing the player isn't interested?

Typical morning of being a #spurs fan.
1) don’t get hopes up because you know the deal will collapse
2) okay think optimistically, it might happen
3) reliable ITK’s have said it’s ON. You can let your guard down
4) deal off. Back to square one 🥴#Kounde 🇫🇷 https://t.co/Yj5sns1IbC pic.twitter.com/PV4E76t8cd

Why are we wasting time then? Surely we'd have heard from his agent that he ain't interested before negotiating with Sevilla https://t.co/eD27r1GAPJ

That story lasted long 😂. We can’t compete with players linked to Man Utd, real, Juve, etc. Need to be realistic now that we’ve thrown away all the great work Poch did to make us a team players like this would have chosen. Sad but true now.

Hard to express what a shambles this club has become.
Finally agree a fee with a club for a player, but don’t bother checking whether the player actually wants to join? 🤦♂️
Unable to attract players from Sevilla now, who are playing in superior competitions 🙄 https://t.co/Nsm89wPvgp

Spurs Web Opinion
Fans are right in saying that we should move on to other targets if Kounde has made it clear that he is not interested in a move to Spurs.
However, I doubt Paratici and Levy would have taken the trouble of hammering out a deal with Sevilla if they thought there was no chance of the player joining the club. So, there could be more developments on the Kounde front in the coming days and weeks.
