‘Back towards Tottenham’ – Gary Neville makes confident title prediction

Gary Neville is still confident that Manchester City will run away with the Premier League title and that the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal will be competing for second place this season.

City have looked extremely threatening going forward this season, especially given the unbelievable start Erling Haaland has had to his Premier League career, with the Norwegian having scored 15 goals in his first 10 matches (Transfermarkt).

However, their 1-0 loss at Anfield on Sunday means that Pep Guardiola’s men are level on points with Tottenham, with both teams currently sitting on 23 points.

Arsenal have a four-point cushion at the top but the Gunners did ride their luck to come away with a 1-0 win from Elland Road on Sunday, with Leeds United failing to convert from the penalty spot in the second half.

Despite the blip that City had against Liverpool, Neville is under no doubt that the reigning Premier League Champions will retain the title this season.

The former Manchester United right-back told Sky Sports Premier League (7:25 pm, October 16, 2022): “I still think City will run away with it. Arsenal will come back towards Tottenham, Chelsea, (Manchester) United, and Newcastle. I think City will sort of go away.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Unfortunately, I agree with Neville’s take as I City are just too strong. We have just had a little over a quarter of the season. One should not get carried away with how the table looks at the moment.

There will likely be plenty of twists and turns left this season. City have shown time and again that they are capable of putting a great winning run together once they find their groove. So, it is hard to look past them at the moment.
