‘Bad news’ – Antonio Conte names three players who will miss trip to Manchester United

Antonio Conte has provided a team news update to journalists who have attended Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Manchester United press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of their trip to Old Trafford on Saturday evening in what could prove to be a crunch clash in the race for Champions League qualification.

Tottenham head into the fixture two points behind fifth-placed United in the Premier League table with Conte’s side having played two fewer matches than their next opponents.

The north Londoners were impressive in their last top flight outing when they put five past Everton, while United were comfortably beaten 4-1 by rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Conte has revealed that Ryan Sessegnon who came off at half time during the 5-0 win against Everton on Monday night is injured and is likely to be out for the remainder of the month, the left-wing back joins Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga on the sidelines.

He told Football.London: “Bad news about Ryan Sessegnon. He had a scan and a muscular problem. Maybe we’ll see him after the international break. About Skipp and Tanganga, they are not ready. We have to wait.”

Sessegnon was just starting to get a run of games under his best and performed well against Manchester City, Leeds and Everton. In typical cruel fashion, he finds himself once again on the treatment table with a hamstring issue which seems to have plagued his progress since signing for the club.
