Ange Postecoglou issues an injury update on both Timo Werner and Wilson Odobert after the pair were forced off in Tottenham’s nail-bitingly close victory away to Coventry City in the Carabao Cup.

Werner and Odobert were both forced off against Coventry
Tottenham narrowly snuck past Coventry City in the third round of the Carabao Cup with late goals from substitutes Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson handing Spurs a ticket in the fourth round despite the hosts having the better chances throughout the game.
Johnson only entered the fray due to an early injury to summer signing, Wilson Odobert, who concerningly went down off the ball. The Frenchman was seen clutching his hamstring and left the field of play after just 18 minutes of play.
Spurs’ injury concerns only worsened as they seemingly neared an exit from the Carabao Cup with RB Leipzig loanee, Timo Werner, also forced off after sustaining what appeared to be an ankle injury in the 74th minute.

Postecoglou says Odobert’s injury looks significant
Following Spurs’ win at the Coventry Building Society Arena, Postecoglou revealed (Tottenham): “I’m not really sure [on the extent of the injuries at this stage]. Both of them look like muscle injuries which is the way things are going for us – we’re getting multiple injuries in the same position.
“We’ll see how they are. I think, definitely it looks like Wilson’s is a significant one. We’ll see how Timo is.”
Fans will be hoping that Odobert’s injury is not an issue that will continue to trouble the winger, much like Manor Solomon’s did last season for Spurs. The Israeli winger only featured six times in Lilywhite before facing multiple setbacks to an initial meniscus injury. (BBC Sport)
Spurs Web opinion
Odobert’s injury being serious is a very unfortunate situation especially with Tottenham being both in a current bad spot of form and facing a very hectic and congested fixture schedule that could well only ensue further issues.
As Postecoglou stated, it does feel as though Spurs are unfortunate with their injuries being multiple in the same position which often leaves the squad feeling out of place and disjointed.
However, the one positive is that the injury could pave the way for Mikey Moore to climb up the pecking order at Spurs, with less senior competition we could perhaps see the promising 17-year-old feature off the bench or even start some Europa League games.
