Balague reveals which club Rakitic wants to join amidst reported Spurs interest

Spanish football journalist, Guillem Balague, has now revealed where rumoured Spurs target Ivan Rakitic is likely to end up this summer.

Mundo Deportivo reported late last month that Rakitic was assessing his options ahead of a possible summer move after falling out of favour at the Camp Nou following the arrival of Frenkie de Jong.

The same publication installed Tottenham as the favourites to land the 32-year-old earlier this week as they claimed that Juventus had withdrawn their interest and that Rakitic’s former club Sevilla are not in a position to afford him.

They suggested that the Croatian international would be willing to join the North London outfit and link up with Jose Mourinho.

Balague has now claimed that the Barcelona star would prefer to return to Sevilla but he suggested that Julen Lopetegui’s side might not be in a position to pay the transfer fee or wages required.

Balague said in his Youtube channel: “Rakitic is another one that has been suggested, that he may leave. He wants to go to Sevilla, but Sevilla are going to leave it until the last second because right now they don’t know where they’re going to get the money to pay his wages or for the transfer fee that Barcelona may require – perhaps a swap with a player.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe that we will get Rakitic if we really want him as Barcelona are desperate for cash and one would imagine that he would be open to the move to the Premier League given that he has revealed his fondness for English football in the past. However, I don’t really believe that we need him this summer unless of course, we lose Ndombele.
