Bale Hails Gomes As Best In League

Gareth Bale has spoken of stopper Heurelho Gomes as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle was the first time Spurs had kept a clean sheet in the league since the opening day draw with Manchester City, but Gomes has made some key saves regardless.

Gomes has come under criticism from certain aspects of the media, but Bale insists that is undeserved and should in fact be quite the opposite.

“I think Gomes has been outstanding all season.

“He has been producing unbelievable saves and that has been great for him and the team as well.

“He’s the best in the league. he pulls out saves from teh middle of nowhere because he’s so lanky.

“He has shown this for a long while now that he is a high-class player. He has made some of the best saves I have ever seen in my life this season.

“The criticism he sometimes gets is unfair. When a clean sheet comes his way, he deserves it and hopefully he’ll be able to keep more in the future.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. We have the best three central defenders in the Premiership. Dawson, Bassong and Kaboul. Now that Kaboul is suspended for three games Bassong will take his chance and make it hard for Harry Redders to find a place for Kaboul when he serves his time.Bssong will be the next Ledley King if he is given a run of games, but how can we play without the brilliant Kaboul, he is a colossus in defence, selecetion headaches for Harry I believe are well on their way. Then we have King and Woodgate to consider, well I would let them alone and use the younger guys. All we really need now is to see our strikers score more and stop depending on our midfielders to get us the goals. If we had prolific strikers then we would give Barcelona a frightening time in the Champions league.

  2. Bassong will elish the opportunity to play three games in place of the suspended but brilliant Kaboul. Bassong will show how good he is and how hard it will be for Harry Redders to drop him after Kaboul serves his suspension. The great fact is that we have at Spurs three brilliant young central defenders in Dawson, Kaboul and Bassong, along with the injured King and Woodgate. Personally I think that we have the making of a great future ,but we do need our strikers to start putting goals into the net. we canttely on our midfielders to score all our goals. Strikers seem to be on strike. so lets get them firing again. If we had a Klinsman in our side now we would even frighten Barcelona. So come on Spurs, start scoring you strikers.

  3. Best in the league? Nowhere near. Dodgy keeper. As for Dawson, Kaboul and Basson g being the best 3 centre halves in the league…

    Just say no, kids
