Gareth Bale has urged Tottenham to do everything they can to bring Joe Cole to the club.

Spurs and Arsenal are currently leading the chase of the talented midfielder, with Redknapp having expressed a desire to bring his former West Ham charge to White Hart Lane.

Tottenham haven’t been very active during the transfer window so far and Bale believes Cole would be the perfect player to change that.

“I think he is a great player and would be a great signing for us.

“If he did come, obviously we would welcome him with open arms and he would be an important asset to the squad.

“His Champions League experience would be an important asset for us. The more experience we have, the better.

“A few of our guys have been in the Champions League before, but for most of us it will be a new experience that we are looking forward to and if he can bring us more experience then that would be handy.”

Bale also spoke about manager Harry Redknapp and his hopes of becoming England manager.

The Welshaman believes Redknapp has all the credentials to be a success for England, but urged him to stay with Spurs.

“I think the manager should definitely stay at Tottenham.

“He did a fantastic job taking us from down low in the table to the Champions League so I don’t want him to go. Hopefully he will stay.”

Bale has been linked with moves to a variety of massive clubs both at home and abroad, but has poured cold water on these stories, claiming “I am absolutely committed to Tottenham.”
