Bale: We have to qualify for the Champions League again

Gareth Bale has stresed the importance of Tottenham qualifying for the Champions League again next season.

Bale believes that playing at the top level of club competition in Europe has springboarded his career.

“I have grown massively as a player,” said Bale. “The Champions League will be the highest level I will play at the moment with Wales not being able to, and having struggled to, qualify for a major finals. Everyone thrives off it and I want to play in at as much as I can now.

“I don’t think we are far from winning a competition like the Premier League or Champions League but it is mainly the consistency that we need. We are new to the competition and it has been a learning curve. We will continue to get better, we are a young team and we will learn from our experiences.

“The club is a massive club and we have shown that we can compete in major competitions. Now we have to qualify for the Champions League again.”

Asked if he would review his future should Tottenham fail to qualify, Bale said: “I am happy here and I am not concentrating on anything else.”

“We have a hell of a run in,” said Bale. “But we don’t fear anyone. There is no reason why we can’t get maximum points. We need to win every game.”
