Gareth Bale would not blame Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp if he took the England job.
Redknapp is still the favourite to take over from Fabio Capello at the end of the current campaign and Bale believes that it’s an opportunity which his boss could not refuse.
The worrying part as a Spurs fan is that if Redknapp is set to head on over to Wembley, are we currently drawing up a shortlist for his replacement? Who realistically can take the reigns from Redknapp and keep our progress going?
It seems from the outside that the uncertainty over Redknapp’s future has had an adverse effect on our form, but hopefully that is now behind us.
Bale told The Sun: “We all want Harry to stay but he is a great manager and if England do come calling it’s one of those lifetime opportunities that you just can’t turn down.
“I wouldn’t blame him for going, can you really? You never know if that opportunity will ever come around again.”
Bale believes Tottenham can cope without Redknapp should he move on.
He said: “Harry’s a fantastic manager who can handle high-calibre players and expectations at the club. If we get a manager like that I dare say it won’t make too much difference.”
