Harry Redknapp is adamant that Tottenham Hotspur will not be selling Gareth Bale.
Barcelona have been linked with a move for the Welsh wing wizard and has previously admitted that it is ‘always nice’ to be linked with clubs like the Spanish giants. To be fair, you can’t blame Bale for being flattered but he is known to be enjoying his football at the Lane and takes little notice of speculation regarding his future.
We all know Harry’s stance – he does not want his key players leaving the club. We saw that when the Luka Modric saga was taking place during the summer and it was refreshing to see Daniel Levy taking a firm stance on the matter with Chelsea.
“We have never spoke to anyone (about Bale),” Redknapp said.
“If you start selling your best players where does it end? You have to say we’ll be a mid-table team. If you want to be a top team you’ve got to keep your best players.”
Harry’s comments above are spot on. We are trying to build a squad to challenge for the top four on a regular basis – not strengthen those around us. Let’s hope that Bale and co are in a Lillywhite shirt for a long time to come.
