Bale talks up title opportunities

Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale has declared his confidence in Tottenham’s ability to land the title.

Spurs are without a league trophy since 1961, but recent form has led some to suggest they could be an outside bet to claim the title.

Spurs currently sit in fourth, behind Manchesters United and City and city rivals Arsenal.

Bale has been instrumental in the turn around of Tottenham’s fortunes, scoring his 10th goal of the season in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Newcastle.

“There’s no reason why we can’t push for the title.

“I think, as we’ve seen, with ten men, we’re fully confident. We attack teams all the time and we’re up in the mix.

“Everyone fights for each other on the pitch. We are all close and get on with each other. That shows on the pitch and that’s why we’re getting results.

Bale has benefitted for being given a license to roam in an attacking position this season, showing great form in a left-sided midfield role.

“It’s nice to get ten goals in the first half of the season.

“I didn’t have a target at the start of the season, but I just want to keep going and keep plugging away and hopefully I can get a few more before the end of the year.”
