Bale’s agent gives definitive answer on whether Spurs have option to re-sign

Gareth Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett has now revealed that Tottenham do not have an option to re-sign the winger for another season this summer.

Bale made a fairy tale return to North London seven years after leaving for Sunny Spain last summer, although it appears a second season may now be in doubt.

The Welshman is still contracted with Real Madrid for one more season, which Barnett was keen to point out, while also adding that Bale has no current agreements at all.

The Los Blancos man was knocked out of the European Championships by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s Denmark this week, although he seemed to reject any retirement rumours.

The Evening Standard claim that Bale is expected to hold talks with new Madrid boss, Carlos Ancelotti, once he returns from holiday, which could finally shed light on his future.

Barnett said: “As I have said from the beginning, there is no option. Gareth has no agreements whatsoever. He is under contract to Real.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Bale’s return was always unlikely but even more so with the manager situation at Tottenham right now. It just wouldn’t make too much sense for his career. I expect him to see out his final 12 months with Real Madrid and then perhaps move to America or return to Cardiff in Wales.
