‘Bang in trouble’ – Peter Crouch gives worrying assessment of Tottenham’s relegation chances

Peter Crouch has revealed why he is concerned about Tottenham’s prospects of maintaining their Premier League status.

If anyone was doubting whether relegation is a realistic worry for Tottenham this season, that question was convincingly answered this week.

While Nottingham Forest managed to emerge with a point from the Etihad Stadium and West Ham picked up a victory at Craven Cottage, Tottenham fell to a bruising loss at home to Crystal Palace.

The result leaves the Lilywhites just a point off the drop zone, and one former Spurs man sees some alarming signs at N17 at the moment.

Peter Crouch says Tottenham’s available players lack quality

Given the number of players Spurs are currently missing, Peter Crouch doubts whether there is enough quality at Igor Tudor’s disposal to get results at the moment.

The former Tottenham striker is also alarmed by the lack of leadership in the Spurs dressing room.

Speaking after their 3-1 loss to Palace, Crouch told TNT Sports: “I don’t think there is quality. The best players are out injured. Tottenham are bang in trouble.

“I look at Manchester United and they looked to Michael Carrick, he has managed to get a tune out of those players straight away. Tudor is a massive gamble.

“There are no players who have come through from the youth team, players who know the club Archie Gray was the best player for Tottenham, and he’s 19 years old. There’s not enough leaders out there.”

Spurs have been let down by their senior players

In a fight for survival, a squad’s character gets tested, and the experienced leaders in the dressing room need to step up and show the way.

We have seen the opposite at Tottenham, with Cristian Romero and now Micky van de Ven, both receiving red cards a few weeks apart and getting suspended at a crucial point in the season.

This current squad has got Spurs into this mess, and one would hope that they have the resolve and determination to get the club out of this.
