Barcelona respond to Tottenham’s post on social media

Barcelona have responded to Tottenham Hotspur’s post on social media, wishing everyone a happy new year and their hopes for fans to be able to return to the stadium soon.

Fans were allowed back in a reduced capacity at the start of December, with 2000 in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the North London Derby.

However, the restrictions have since changed, with a significant amount of England now in Tier 4 following the spread of a new strain of COVID.

It means that many matches across the length and breadth of the country are set to be played behind closed doors for the foreseeable future.

Jose Mourinho admitted to Spurs TV a few days ago that he cannot wait for fans to return and to play in front of a capacity crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Barcelona have conveyed a similar sentiment on social media and wished that it does not take too long before spectators are back again.

As great as it will be to see fans finally return to the stadium, the safety of the players, staff and fans will have to be prioritised. It looks very likely that we will not see spectators back for the rest of the season.
