Barcelona to beat Spurs and Liverpool to star signing

The Mirror have reported that Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt is Barcelona bound, despite Premier League interest from both Liverpool and Spurs.

The young centre back is said to be worth a whopping £60m, which would likely have been way out of Tottenham’s price range.

De Ligt was impressive for Holland alongside Van Dijk on Friday as his side won 2-0 against France.

Barcelona are now said to be confident of signing their man, someone they see as a long term replacement for Gerard Pique.

Tottenham were reportedly looking at the Dutch youngster too (The Sun), as they will likely lose first team star Toby Alderweireld come the summer.

Fellow Belgian centre back Jan Vertonghen is also in the final year of his current deal, but he has an option to extend by another season.

It looks as if Spurs and Liverpool will have to search elsewhere for a new young centre back, as the Ajax star looks set on a Barca move.
