Barcelona tried to tempt Spurs into a transfer but Levy ‘did not take the bait’ – Journalist

Dean Jones has revealed in his column on GiveMeSport that Barcelona tried to push Raphinha towards Tottenham, but the Lilywhites did not take the bait.

It now appears that Spurs will sign Timo Werner as their forward reinforcement this month, with the former Chelsea man being able to play both as a number 9 and a left winger (Fabrizio Romano).

Jones reports that Spurs were looking at a number of other targets too, including Raphinha. He says that while Tottenham’s scouts have been impressed with Iling-Junior, Juventus are now waiting to hear back soon about the North London club regarding any firm interest.

The journalist also says that Jota is on the club’s radar but he plays down the chances of Spurs signing Raphinha, stating that Barcelona tried to push the Brazilian in Tottenham’s direction but the Premier League club ‘did not take the bait’.

Interestingly, Jones asserts that Malen could also emerge as a target for the Lilywhites, explaining that the Netherlands international could be on his way out of Borussia Dortmund if the Bundesliga club are successful in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect that Timo Werner will be the only new forward this month, with Manor Solomon also close to a return from injury. A midfielder might be the next on the agenda once Spurs complete the signing of Radu Dragusin.
