The latest updates on the future of Luka Vuskovic come as a major concern for Tottenham Hotspur fans who are desperate to keep hold of the starlet.

Unsurprisingly, both Cristian Romero’s and Micky van de Ven’s futures at Tottenham are up in the air, as clubs from around Europe circle over the pair, but they are not the only Spurs centre-backs in demand.

Some elite European clubs are allegedly eyeing a summer move for Vuskovic, who has been outstanding in his loan spell at Hamburg so far.

In fact, it was claimed earlier this month that Barcelona have already held initial talks over a move for the Spurs teenager.

Barcelona set Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic as their summer ‘priority’

A new report in Fichajes has now claimed that landing Vuskovic from Spurs is the ‘absolute priority in the Catalan offices’ this summer as Barcelona look to bolster their defensive line.

It is revealed that the La Lia giants have identified Vuskovic as the ‘ideal piece to rejuvenate their defence’.

In fact, Hansi Flick is said to have been one of the main voices pushing for the Tottenham man to be signed, with the German coach recognising the teenager’s ‘enormous potential’.

It is alleged that Barca are hopeful of finalising a deal for the 18-year-old at around €40m (£34.5m) when the transfer market reopens in the summer.

Barca’s talks with Vuskovic have been positive

Fichajes say that the talks that Flick’s men have had with the centre-back’s entourage have ‘progressed positively’ so far.

Barca are looking to take advantage of the uncertainty over Tottenham’s Premier League future to pounce on the defender.

The Catalan club are confident that their historical prestige and their style of play will be enough to lure Vuskovic to Camp Nou this summer.

The outlet adds that Barca want to complete a deal for the Tottenham man before other big clubs across the continent can enter the bidding war and push up the price.
